There are many Gujarati Foods, which are very much liked not only in Gujarat but all over India and Dhokla is one of them. People all over India like to eat it as a snack. Since Dhokla is made by steaming and hence is a very healthy snack, it is also eaten as breakfast in some households. 

Generally, Dhokla is prepared with the help of gram flour. But it is not necessary that it should be made in the same way. Dhokla can be made in many different ways. Even in Gujarat people make and eat dhokla in many ways.

In such a situation, if you are bored of making and eating dhokla in the same way and want variety in it, then you can include spinach to lentils in your dhokla recipe. So today in this article we are telling you about different recipes for making Dhokla, which you will surely like too-

Spinach Dhokla palak dhokla

Spinach Dhokla is very healthy and delicious. It is made with the help of gram flour, semolina, and spinach, which increases the iron content in it. (Easy Egg Spinach Recipe)

Ingredients of Spinach Dhokla - Spinach Dhokla kaise banate hai

  1. 1 cup besan
  2. 2 tbsp semolina
  3. 2 teaspoons sugar
  4. 1 tsp salt or as per taste
  5. 2 cups spinach leaves
  6. half a cup of water
  7. 1 tsp green chili paste
  8. 1 tbsp lemon juice
  9. 2 tsp fruit salt (ENO)

For tempering: Spinach Dhokla kaise banate hai

  1. 2 tsp oil
  2. 1 tsp mustard seeds
  3. 1 green chili chopped
  4. 2 tbsp water

For Garnishing: Spinach Dhokla kaise banate hai

  1. Green coriander finely chopped
  2. shredded fresh coconut (optional)
  3. Recipe of Spinach Dhokla-
  4. First of all, grease a plate or baking pan with the help of oil and keep it aside.
  5. Now put 2-3 cups of water in the steamer and let the water boil.
  6. Sieve the gram flour till the water is boiling.
  7. Add semolina, sugar, and salt to it and keep aside after beating well.
  8. Now make a fine puree by adding spinach leaves and half a cup of water in a blender jar.
  9. Now add spinach puree, green chili paste, and lemon juice to the gram flour mixture.
  10. Mix it well and make a smooth batter.
  11. Add fruit salt to the batter and mix it quickly and gently.
  12. Keep in mind that the fruit salt should be mixed evenly in the batter. The batter will almost double.
  13. Now, immediately pour it into a greased plate or pan.
  14. Place the plate or pan in the steamer and cover.
  15. Steam the palak dhokla on medium to high flame for 10-12 minutes.
  16. Check the dhokla by inserting the tip of a tester or knife in the center of the dhokla.
  17. Now turn off the flame.
  18. After a minute, remove the plate or pan from the steamer and keep aside.
  19. Now it's time to prepare the tempering.
  20. For this, heat oil in a small pan, add mustard seeds.
  21. After the mustard seeds crackle, add chopped green chilies.
  22. Then add 2 tbsp water carefully and let it come to a boil.
  23. Turn off the flame.
  24. Spread this tempering mixture evenly over the palak dhokla.
  25. Lastly, garnish it with chopped coriander leaves and fresh coconut.
  26. Cut palak dhokla into desired shapes and serve with ketchup or chutney of your choice.
